I see that some people are likening to a 3-1 game. COD - Payday - GTA, but I fail to see the GTA aspect. The ultimate draw to the GTA franchise, in my opinion is the sheer amount of freedom you have to do whatever the fuck your heart desires. I think this is what's missing from Hardline, the gameplay looks fairly linear from what I can tell. How much creativity does it really allow, I wonder?

On top of that, since this is a car-website, it doesn't seem like the cars in this game play a huge role, you are in them long enough for them to get shot to hell it seems.

The cars look like shit, I heard the driving feels like shit, and the animations are junky.

From a car racing/driving gaming perspective, that is.

I am not a fan of FPS games, so I'll not comment on what I've seen in the rest of the game. Which is still in beta, so maybe the release will look and play a lot better?

I have a feeling it'd be more fun to gather some friends in GTA and play cops and robbers for real.

Man, that sounds fun...

I wish I could get got play GTAV already, waiting for PC version.

Played the beta, shooting was decent but the driving was just awful. Itll turn into a walk around fps like all the others if they dont improve vehicles before release.

I agree with you that it shares little or nothing in common with GTA. It's also not much like COD, and although many are complaining that it's a reskin of BF4, the way the matches play out is quite different. I guess if they have TDM, that'd play out just as BF.

Now, the car stuff? They do drive better and play more of a role than Jeeps/Hummers/etc. do in "regular" BF. But they still drive like poop. Also, most of them are undriveable props. None are licenced, but they do look like real-world models. What really grinds my gears are the lookalikes of whale-bodied Caprices scattered everywhere. If this is supposed to be present-day, what are these old cars doing here?

Haha, I totally could've been, for all I care COD and BF aren't all that much different these days. I was so excited for the newest battlefield a couple years ago and was sorely disapointed.

Basically you just consistently focus your efforts on getting away or shooting whoever is trying to get away, right? Is there flexibility, as a robber, in the route you can take to get away?

I found it difficult to get anywhere in a vehicle running since i got shot so easily and the map wasnt really suitable for driving at speed so running wise it was mostly on foot shooting anything in your way. It was very easy to stop runners. Felt like normal bf some of the time. I was really hoping it would be gta heists with great shooting but as of the beta its not that at all. Admittedly I only played a few rounds on my roommates ps4 though so maybe it gets better.

Also I play BF on PC and the driving mechanics suit a keyboard pretty well. From what I hear people like how the planes fly but I have the hardest time flying them with a keyboard and mouse. I'm sure making the cars drive better might have the same impact on PC controls.
